Butterflies

Butterflies Class is a KS2 class of 14 pupils, aged between 8 and 11 years of age. We will be focusing closely on the individual needs of each child, reflecting both what they need to learn next and how they learn best. In our class team we have Mr Robinson (Class Teacher) and Teaching Assistants.

We aim to develop the children into confident and independent learners who have a ‘can do’ attitude, looking to find different ways to solve new challenges and not thinking that things are too difficult for them. We want them to develop their respect for and tolerance of the differences between themselves.

Our classroom is organised to allow freedom of movement for the children, with resources clearly labelled to allow the children to access them independently. We have created a safe learning environment for everyone in class, encouraging each other to ask for support when they need it and talk about our worries.

Class updates

Life Skills

This term in Life Skills we will be learning about ’Keeping Safe’ and ‘Personal Hygiene’. During this topic we will be focusing on what it means to be safe, identifying ways we can be safe at home, in school and out in the wider community. In Personal Hygiene we will learn about the importance of taking care of our bodies and keeping them clean.

Reading

Your child will be bringing a reading book home, which needs to be returned to school every day. Please try to encourage your child to read the book to you and record in the reading record. If your child is reluctant to read a schoolbook at home, you may also want to record any books that you share together, or that your child has read, these might include; signs, symbols, logos, or comics and magazines, as well as audio books. We are promoting reading for pleasure in class with our reading corner and will be looking at a range of texts during our topic.

Physical Education

Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. We are lucky to be working with the Wolves Foundation on a Tuesday with a focus on multi-skills. Then on Thursday the children will be learning hockey skills. Please make sure your child has their PE kit to keep in school and it is clearly labelled.
