Frogs

Frogs class is made up of a group of 11 children who are supported by Mr Robinson (Class Teacher) and Teaching Assistants. The children within Frogs class form part of our Pathway 3.

In Frogs class, we ensure that we continue to build upon and extend the experiences that children have had from their previous learning. We strive to deliver a structured approach to learning whilst ensuring we have lots of fun.

Each term the children will encounter a different topic which allows for exciting and engaging learning experiences for all. The children’s learning is personalised and they have individualised targets based on their Education Health Care Plan.

We actively support children to overcome their barriers to learning and ensure that a child’s communication development takes the lead in all we do. We want to ensure that we develop children’s confidence and independence to communicate, allowing them to access all activities and routines. Hedgehog class aims to facilitate all communication needs and promote an inclusive classroom environment. Within the classroom, children will experience working in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. The classroom organisation and overall layout encompasses a range of diverse considerations to meet the needs of all children. We want our children to feel safe, confident and comfortable and we will continually encourage them to become more independent learners.

In Frogs class, we recognise that all the children will regularly demonstrate new skills and achieve new things. We ensure that we celebrate every achievement no matter how big or small. All our learners are valued and we aim for every child to do their very best to achieve their full potential. We are proud of all of the pupils in Frogs class and we will always aim to inspire every child to do their best.

Class updates

Physical Education

Our PE days are Thursday and Friday. During the session on Thursday we will be working on our throwing and catching skills along with doing a range of physical exercise. Our Friday sessions will be led by a coach and we will be learning and developing some cricket skills. Please make sure your child has their PE kit to keep in school and all items of clothing are clearly labelled.

Life Skills

During the Autumn Term we will be developing our ‘life skills’ throughout our weekly focused sessions. In the first half term we will be focusing on ‘Keeping Safe’. In the second half term we will developing our knowledge and skills linked to ‘Personal Hygiene’ ensuring we know the importance of this in our everyday lives.

Reading

Each pupil will have their own individual reading book that they will bring home everyday. Please try to read with your child at home as much as possible and fill out their reading record book. Reading at home with your child has a positive impact on their development in both their reading, speaking and listening skills. Please ensure that your child’s reading book and reading record is sent into school everyday. We believe in the importance of reading and sharing stories with your child. It does not have to be just your child’s reading book, you can share comics and magazines etc.
