Owls

Owls Class are part of our Pathway 3. We are a mix of Years 4, 5 and 6 children, supported by Mrs R Gibbons (Class Teacher) and Teaching Assistants.

Through our ‘Aim High’ Ethos, in Pathway 3 we begin to apply our knowledge and skills using our awareness of the wider world around us. We focus closely on the individual needs of each child and their preferred learning style to ensure that our curriculum meets their needs in order for them to progress and achieve. We have created a safe and happy learning environment that inspires the children to care for each other and also promotes a positive atmosphere, encouraging self-confidence and independence, in all aspects of life and learning.

In Owls Class ‘Every Pupil Matters …. Every Moment Counts’.

Class updates

Phonics & Reading

In our daily phonics sessions, we enjoy completing activities linked to the learning of grapheme phoneme correspondence. Our learning takes place through practical and recorded activities and also through the use of the ‘Reading Eggs’ platform. Your child will bring home a reading book everyday. Please spend time sharing this and reading together. Doing this will support your child’s development and also enhance their speech and communication skills. Please ensure that books are sent back into school everyday.

English including Communication

Through our English sessions, we will continue to complete lots of activities that support and develop our language and communication skills. We will work on our writing, spelling, and fine motor skills. Our classroom is set up to be a total communication environment which supports all of our needs and levels.

Maths

In Maths we will continue to be working on our number and place value skills alongside Shape, Space and measure and also Using and Applying. Over the term we will explore shape, size, mass, position and direction, time, money and pattern. We will also complete focused learning tasks to develop our using and applying skills that will promote our life long skills linked to maths.

Jigsaw

Our Jigsaw themes for this term are; ‘Dreams and Goals’ and ‘Healthy Me’. During these sessions we will be working together and individually to share our thoughts and ideas and complete tasks and activities.
