Local Advisory Board/Governing Body

Our Governing Body

The Local Advisory Board (LAB) plays a crucial role in the governance of Woodsetton School, operating within the framework established by The Ascent Multi Academy Trust. Comprised of passionate individuals dedicated to enhancing children’s education, the LAB actively supports our school in various strategic capacities following the Seven Principles of Public Life, also known as the ‘Nolan Principles’.

LAB members, often referred to as governors, are part of one of the largest volunteer networks in the country, making significant contributions towards raising educational standards.

The role of the LAB is a strategic one and its key functions are to:

  • Help set the aims and objectives for the school ensuring there is clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
  • Help set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives.
  • To consider how well the school is performing as well as helping to strategically plan future in order for the school to continue to improve and offer the best possible outcomes our pupils.
  • To challenge and support the Headteacher to improve pupils' progress and to ensure the ethos and values of the school continue to align with those of the Trust.

If you wish to learn more about the LAB or have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Finding skilled and diverse governors for our Local Advisory Board has and always will be our aim. We know that a diverse governing board is a stronger board, reflecting school communities and the wider country.
