Squirrels
Squirrel Class is made up of twelve enthusiastic learners, supported by Mr T Robinson (Class Teacher) and two teaching assistants. Our class forms part of Upper Key Stage 2 in school. Our focus is to build upon and extend the children’s previous learning experiences through a structured, engaging, and fun approach. We are proud to promote an inclusive classroom environment that supports all communication needs. Our teaching encourages independence, confidence, and active participation in all aspects of school life. We celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small and value each child’s progress. We are incredibly proud of our learners and always aim to inspire them to reach their full potential.
We focus on the individual needs of the learner and their preferred learning style. Learning is fun, engaging, and taught through termly topics that extend children’s understanding and experiences. We love to take learning beyond the classroom, using our school grounds, going on enriching trips, and welcoming visitors throughout the year.
Our class team works hard to create a happy and safe environment that promotes self-confidence, independence, and care for one another. Our classroom is thoughtfully organised to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Physical Education takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Specialist coaches deliver some PE sessions from the Wolves Foundation, who help to develop the children’s physical skills and boost their confidence. It is important that children have their PE kits in school each week, and that all items are clearly labelled to ensure they can take part safely and comfortably.
We encourage children to bring their reading books into school every day. Staff will record when children have read in school, and we ask parents and carers to do the same in their child’s reading record when reading at home. Books are changed regularly to support progress and enjoyment. Families are also encouraged to support learning at home using the Reading Eggs app, for which login details have been sent home.
