Moles
Mole Class is made up of ten children from Reception and Year 1, led by Miss J Jukes.
We work very much like Caterpillar Class, following a structured timetable. Our curriculum is carefully planned to meet the needs of each individual child, providing a rich and stimulating environment where children can thrive and embody our AIM High ethos.
Our Daily Routine
-
Breakfast & Social Time – We begin the day sharing breakfast together. This time is supported by ALD (Alternative Language Display) boards to help develop those important early communication skills.
-
Good Morning Routine – At the benches, children complete self-registration and we model symbols and ALD boards to support discussions on how we are feeling using the Emotion Monsters.
-
Adult-Directed Work – Children then move into focused learning activities at the tables, with a sensory approach included.
Communication in Mole Class
We take a total communication approach to ensure every child can thrive and express their needs. This includes:
-
Personalised ALD boards
-
The "Now and Next" approach
-
Makaton signing
-
A range of visual aids
Class Updates
Reading Books
Children are encouraged to explore and enjoy books. Staff model reading at least three times a week, and each child will bring home a reading book (or sensory board book) weekly. We kindly ask that you share this book at home and record it in your child’s reading diary.
Soft Play – Crystal Leisure Centre
Soft play takes place on a three-week rota. Mole Class will begin on Wednesday 8th October. Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothes on this day.
Home–School Communication Book
Each child has a communication book that we check every morning. We will write in it as needed, and we encourage parents to use it for any messages you’d like to share with us.
